Funtana
The village of Funtana is full of beautiful beaches and great restaurants, and it has become a favourite destination because of the two amusement parks nearby: Dinopark and Aquacolors.
Famous for freshwater springs, Funtana is a village located about 7 km south of Poreč, on the western coast of Istria. The first record of the village is from the 17th century, when a noble family, Borisi raised their castle here, as the heart of the village. Quaint and charming, Funtana lives of tourism, agriculture and fishing, making it a place of great local food and wine.
When visiting Funtana, make a point to take your kids to the Aquapark for a day of splashes and giggles or at Dinopark, and immerse yourselves in the Jurassic Era for a day, along with rollercoasters and fun rides. If you want to go sightseeing, the closest town is Poreč, known for the Euphrasius Basilica and many other old churches and buildings. If old buildings are not your thing, there are a bunch of vineries you could visit and try to find the finest Malvasia or Teran.
Excursions can take you to Venice, Rovinj, Poreč or further into the Istrian mainland, like Motovon or Grožnjan to walk the medieval walls around the towns before diving into local taverns for some truffles, cheese and wine.
Baredine cave is nearby, if you like potholing and caves. The path will take you some 60 meters underground to a lake and 5 beautifully decorated chambers. The deepest point of the cave is at 132m and the temperature is a very pleasant 14°C.
