What makes a campsite so appealing that guests want to discover it, stay there and come back again?
Sometimes it is the location by the sea. Sometimes it is the scent of pine trees, a morning coffee on the terrace, a bike ride along the coast or an evening spent under a sky full of stars. And sometimes it is simply that feeling of having found a place where you wish you could stay just a little longer.
Judging by the interest shown by German campers, Istra Camping campsites offer exactly that kind of experience.
According to the latest PiNCAMP research, as many as seven Istra Camping campsites have been ranked among the 50 most sought-after campsites in Croatia for 2026.
Camping Park Umag among Croatia’s top favourites
The highest-ranked Istra Camping campsite is Camping Park Umag, taking an impressive 2nd place in Croatia.
Other Istra Camping campsites also made the list:
Camping Bijela Uvala – 19th place
Camping Ulika – 23rd place
Camping Zelena Laguna – 29th place
Camping Stella Maris – 33rd place
Camping Savudrija – 42nd place
Camping Kanegra – 49th place
In other words, wherever your journey takes you along the western coast of Istria, there is an Istra Camping campsite that has caught the attention of German campers.

What does “most sought-after” really mean?
PiNCAMP’s ranking is not simply about ratings or awards. It reflects which campsites German campers are actively looking for and exploring when planning their holidays.
The “PiNCAMP Most Wanted 2026” ranking is based on user behaviour on the platform, including campsite page views recorded between 1 January and 31 July 2026. Campsites also had to meet minimum requirements for the number of reviews and achieve an average rating of at least 7 out of 10.
That makes the result particularly interesting: it shows that guests are not only enjoying their time in Istria – they are actively searching for it, discovering it online and considering it for their next camping holiday.
And it doesn’t stop at Croatia – Istra Camping reaches the European TOP 100
The good news goes even further. No fewer than three Istra Camping campsites have made the European Top 100 most sought-after campsites among German campers.
Camping Park Umag ranks 13th in Europe, while Camping Bijela Uvala takes 87th place and Camping Ulika 100th place.
So Istria is not simply a favourite when German campers choose Croatia. It is firmly on the European camping map as a destination worth discovering.
Why Istria?
Perhaps the answer lies in everything that makes Istria so special.
The sea is never far away, yet neither are charming hilltop towns, cycling trails, local taverns, olive groves and vineyards. A day can begin with a swim in the Adriatic, continue with an adventure into the Istrian countryside and end with local specialities and a sunset by the sea.
And camping here is about much more than having a place to stay.
It is a way to experience Istria at your own pace – outdoors, actively and effortlessly.
That is why it is especially exciting to see German campers continuing to choose, explore and recommend Istria in 2026.
Seven campsites. One Istria. Countless reasons to visit.
The latest PiNCAMP results are a wonderful confirmation of what many guests have already discovered: Istria was made for camping.
