Once again this year, as part of the Bee Sweet to the Bees initiative, Plava Laguna is proud to support the "Save the Bees" photo contest — a contest inspired by the beauty, importance and quiet industriousness of bees in nature.
From 1 June to 31 July 2026, we invite you to capture a moment with bees and share your photo in the Facebook group "Bee Sweet to the Bees – Save the Bees".
Whether you spot a bee while enjoying your morning coffee at your camping pitch, cycling through the picturesque landscapes of Istria, relaxing by the sea or exploring the natural surroundings, your photo can tell a story that inspires others to appreciate and protect these remarkable pollinators.
Join the contest, share your perspective and win some sweet prizes!
The winning photo will be announced in August during a special one-day exhibition at the newly renovated Hotel Garden Istra Plava Laguna !
Join the contest and show us your nature-inspired creativity.

The Bee Sweet To The Bees Initiative
Since 2024, Plava Laguna has been running the Bee Sweet to the Bees initiative in cooperation with the beekeeping associations Udruga pčelara Bujština and Udruga pčelara Nektar from Poreč.
The initiative aims to protect bees and raise awareness of their irreplaceable role in nature, biodiversity and everyday life.
Over the years, guests and local residents have participated in numerous activities, including planting bee-friendly plants, tasting locally produced honey, meeting local beekeepers, learning about pollinators and taking part in the annual photo contest and exhibition.
This year, the initiative continues to grow with even more activities dedicated to sustainability, environmental education and family experiences in nature.

Discover the New Bee Hotel at Camping Zelena Laguna
One of the most exciting additions to this year's initiative is the arrival of a new Bee Sweet Hotel for solitary bees at Camping Zelena Laguna.
Made from natural materials such as bamboo, reed and wood, these small structures provide a safe habitat for solitary bees and other beneficial pollinators. Although solitary bees do not produce honey, they play a crucial role in pollinating plants and maintaining healthy ecosystems.
The project was developed in cooperation with Udruga pčelara Nektar and forms part of Plava Laguna's long-term commitment to biodiversity conservation and sustainable tourism.
The bee hotel at Camping Zelena Laguna officially welcomes its first guests on 9 June 2026, as part of a programme of eco-focused activities organised by the Activities & Experiences Team.
For camping guests, it offers a unique opportunity to observe pollinators up close and learn more about their importance in preserving the natural beauty of Istria.

Activities & Experiences – A Honey Adventure for the Whole Family
As part of the Pepi Clubs and Eko Day activities, children and families can enjoy educational and entertaining experiences that combine learning, creativity and outdoor fun.
Guests can look forward to:
bee-house building workshops
meetings with local beekeepers
educational presentations about the life of bees
tastings of locally produced honey
open-air screenings of Maya the Bee
interactive activities focused on pollinators and biodiversity
These activities offer children a fun way to discover the natural world while helping them understand the importance of protecting the environment for future generations.
Experience Nature, Support the Bees
Camping is one of the best ways to reconnect with nature, and every bee you encounter is a reminder of how important even the smallest creatures are to the world around us.
Whether you are exploring the coastline, enjoying the shade of Mediterranean pine trees or discovering the rich biodiversity of Istria, we invite you to take part in the Save the Bees Photo Contest 2026 and become part of a meaningful environmental initiative.
